Femiknit is a portfolio of various knitting patterns.
For each pattern sold, 10% is donated to iThema Projects, an aid organization in South Africa.

Why Femiknit:
The idea behind Femiknit is to promote less consumption by reusing yarn. The concept emphasizes using yarn until it is completely worn out. For example, if you no longer like the knitwear you made, you can unravel it and reuse the yarn to knit a new sweater. Therefore, the materials for the patterns are specified by gauge, making it easy to identify different yarn options (Check my Instagram for further explanation). However, if you don't have the right leftover yarn, there are alternative new yarn options suggested for the pattern.
The inspiration behind Femiknit:
The concept of Femiknit arose after a few visits to South Africa during the past two autumn breaks. During my trips, I visited iThemba Projects, an organization assisting some of the poorest in the country.
My visits left a lasting impact on me, helping me comprehend the immense abundance in the Western world. Following these visits, I became more mindful of not buying excessive clothing. As I have always cherished clothing, this was a challenging transition for me. It was during this time that I conceived the idea of repurposing old knitwear to breathe new life into them by unraveling and reusing the yarn. This was the inception of Femiknit. A fun fact is that for this reason, all my patterns have Zulu names.
